1 Day in Kuala Lumpur : Backpacker’s Itinerary (Part 1)

Continuing my story when I traveled to Jewel Changi last November, this time I want to share my trip in Kuala Lumpur for only one day.

Why only one day? Well, actually my travel destination was to visited Mallaca and Penang, but I occasionally took a visit to Kuala Lumpur because I have read some suggestions that there are some places worth to visit in Kuala Lumpur so I decided to stay near the city center area.

Using KLIA Express from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to KL Sentral station located in the city center is one of the fastest way to reach the city center. The price is $22 for two persons, so it is $11 each person or 45RM. You can use online travel application to book the tickets (it was easier), and also sometimes you can get some discounted price (because I got one hahaha).

So after about 40 minutes trip, you will reach the KL Sentral, so this is one of the biggest Station in KL, where all the MRT line integrated here. You can reach most parts of KL through this station.

My hotel is located near Masjid Jamek area, so I took the KJL line (red line) to reach the Masjid Jamek Station, only about 10-15 minutes travel. The transportation cost also quite cheap only less than $1 for about 2km.

To use the local transportation, you only have to go to the ticket counter then tell the officer where you would like to go. But you need to pay attention which line you will use or you can ask the customer service about the destination you want to go. Also don’t forget to always check the train schedule, usually they operated until 11.00 pm.

Where to stay?

Through online booking application, I searched some hotels near the area of city center but also affordable. The best price for that time range for about $15 – $35 or 62RM for the lowest price at that time. If you like to check the price, I attach the hotel link below.

If you go around the Masjid Jamek, you can find this pedestrian along the river. The location from the hotel I stayed also not too far for about 10 minutes walk, but because the weather was so bright that day, I felt so exhausting. Don’t forget to always bring some drinks to keep hydrates.

You can also find some street art model in certain spots.

Don’t be afraid of losing direction, you can always see the guidance maps in some area. But I would like to suggest to always looking at your maps also.

Located near the central market, walking along 100m, the Kasturi Walk also place for craft’s or daily needs seller to display their products.

You also have to visit the Petaling Street Market at night.

Along the Petaling Street, there will be vibrant night market selling the unique cuisine in KL. Unfortunately, I did not go to the market because I did not have enough time to visit the place.

So, that is my part 1 being tourist in area near Masjid Jamek, I hope will be useful if you visit Kuala Lumpur. Kindly follow my blog and my Instagram @riesti.wd

Thank you and keep caring
